2009.10.19. - 12:07

The General Assembly was held on the 1st of October 2009, the first day of the Congress. Eighty four members were present. The two most important issues on that day  were the election of the new Committee and the election of the new General Secretary. There was a long period of preparation to this election. This work was completed by Dr. Zsuzsa Schaff, who took on the position of the President of the Searching Committee. The list of the new Committee members is published here. There were two names put forward to the position of the general secretary: Dr. Balázs Járay and Dr. Attila Zalatnay. The members present at the General Assembly elected Dr. Attila Zalatnay as General Secretary for the next 4 years.

Dr. Janina Kulka, former General Secretary, gave the summary of the work and results during the four year period between 2005-2009. Her report was accepted. The reports of the President and the Treasurer were also accepted by the members.

Concerning the new logo of the Society, the memebrs discussed its design and meaning, and the General Assembly decided to postpone the vote about that issue.

At last, the issue of the critical situation of the pathology as a profession was raised, including the large number of pathologists leaving Hungary. It was suggested that the Society together with the College find the way to inform the Governement about the situation and find the way out of it by lobbying for its own interest.
